JOB - a simple man
Playing at The Museum of Jewish Heritage, New York June 1.and 2. 2022. in collaboration with the Cosulate General and Humanity in Action.
The novel ‘JOB - A Simple Man’ by Joseph Roth from 1930 is considered to be one of the corner stones in the world literature of emigration. And the story is a very timely one — addressing the increasing pressure on the boarders and the growing stream of fleeing emigrants in the world, searching for a more peaceful and prosperous life in a safe haven and a new culture.
Actress Ina-Miriam Rosenbaum is playing all the characters in this colorfull and intriguing performance. She recieved her third REUMERT award for best actress 2018 for the parts of Mendel Singer and his family.
With wit, humour and musical roots in the Eastern-European kletzmer tradition, this performance tells the story of a Jewish man, who deals with the transition from the "Old world” — his home in a small Russian village — to the "New world" of Manhattan, New York, at a point in time where the world is on the verge of Worldwar l. The performance has been presented at the SINGER FESTIVAL in Warsaw i August 2020, in Vilnius and Riga in 2018 and in June 2022 it is to be presented at The Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York i collaboration with Humanity in Action, Folksbiene and Danish General Consulate. The international work with the performance is supported by The Danish Arts Foundation, Augustinus Foundation, Knud Højgaards Foundation, Hoffmann and Husmans Foundation and Wilhelm Hansen Foundation.
